Si Ri Panya News Highlights

Friday 28th March, 2025

We've looked at the world through many facinating perspectives, including through the eyes of an artist, which was a theme running through our primary curriculum over these last weeks. Read on to find details of our upcoming end-of -term event (with the same name) below, as well as much more from recent trips and cool happenings.

Most importantly, don't forget to organise your child's full school uniform this weekend (no PE uniforms or alternative clothes) in preparation for our annual school photo on Monday 31st. Those with long hair, as always, should make sure they have it tied back. The whole school photo will include students from both sides of school, Year 1-6 and Year 7-9.

We are excited to invite you to our End of Term Learning Event on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025! It will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the children’s hard work, creativity, and learning from this term. Below is the schedule for the afternoon:

13:15 – 13:40 (Sports Hall):

  • Welcome by the Head of Primary

  • A special visit from our school mascots!

  • Musical performances from children in Years 1 to 6

13:40 – 15:00 (Primary Garden):

  • Art Exhibition: Each student will display some of their artwork from this term on a black "future board," with their name and year group attached to the balcony railings around the garden. Parents and children are invited to stroll through this gallery-style exhibition, showcasing the creativity of all 120 students.

  • Fairground-Style Activities: Each year group (Y1–6) will host a themed activity, inspired by this term’s learning. There will also be a gazebo showcasing Y7-9, art projects and a gazebo where our secondary students will show you their cross-curricular 'no idling' cars project.

Tickets for the event are available at the school office in exchange for a voluntary donation. All proceeds will support sports shoes for children in local communities in need, as part of our Term 2 charity initiative.

Please note: ASA will run as normal at 15:00.

We look forward to seeing you at this exciting event, where we can all celebrate the children’s learning, creativity, and the wonderful artwork they have created!

Khao Sok Awaits: Year 8's Amazing Exploration

Opportunities for Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) is something that brings education to life and builds bridges between classrooms and the outside world. The school has been developing a Secondary programme of overnight trips to give students opportunities to explore, learn about the world around them and enjoy this beautiful country and its people and culture. ANd of course, we have a LOT of fun too!

This is the second year that we have run our Year 8 trip to the Jungle Life camp in Khao Sok, and once again been a huge hit! Students got up close to creatures great and small, enjoyed getting active on and in the rivers and lakes, and spent some time relaxing and enjoying each other's company - hopefully memories that will stay with them forever!

Getting up close ... really close!

Students in Year 7 and 9 have been enjoying learning how to use and take photographs through our five new microscopes - a very exciting addition to our science labs!

Having these microscopes has opened up a whole new world of possibilities, and means students can look at things in a completely different way. Here are some examples of their first pictures - can you work what we can see in these photos?

Secondary Sports Day, March 2025

We had a packed Sports Day this year, starting with a football tournament on the professional-level pitches kindly offered to us by Atletiko Koh Phangan, and then moving to the beach for Beach Olympics designed by our Year 9 students. There were lots of great sporting performances and demonstrations of teamwork, and some memorable cheerleading too.

Here is what one of our keen sports students, Niccolo, thought of the day:

"I had a ton of fun throughout the day, my favourite part was definitely the football matches since it was fast-paced and was what everyone wanted to win. The beach olympics had tons of challenges with teamwork and running, in the end this was a very fun day."

All the teams put in a great effort, but after a close competition the Green Turtle team came out the winners. A good first step towards becoming the Secondary House Champions, but there are still events and classroom House Points to add between now and the end of the year ... so everything to keep playing for!

Weekly Reminders

Library Reminder: Please check at home for any lost books and return them to the Primary or Secondary library so everyone can enjoy them!

Bottle Cap Collection: We're collecting bottle caps for our Precious Plastic Project! Please bring your bottle caps to the collection point located inside the Primary school gate on the left. Secondary students can bring theirs to the Design and Technology Lab. Find out more about this exciting long-term project here: Precious Plastic Phangan Facebook.

Drop Off and Pick Up: Drop-off is at 8:30 am (not earlier). Pick-up times are 2:50 pm for Primary (or 4:00 pm if attending an ASA) and 4:00 pm for Secondary. Please be punctual, as some Primary children have been waiting up to 30 minutes after 2:50 pm, which can be distressing for them.

No Idling Zone: Help make the area outside our school a NO IDLING ZONE which means switching car engines off while you wait for your child. We appreciate your action for the environment and health of all.

Absence and Illness: Notify your child's class teacher (Primary) or form teacher (Secondary) directly to inform them of absence and sickness.

Head Lice Check: Continue to check your child's hair for head lice regularly and treat accordingly. Boys and girls with long hair need to tie it up.
